Cancellation Policy

We try to be as flexible as possible in the application of our policy in the event of a cancelation or no show, as we recognize some things can’t be helped. Try to meet us halfway and we will too. Deal?

One Day Classes,One Day Trips,Learn to Kayak Weekend,Evening Classes

  1. Due to trip planning and logistics we ask to be notified of your intention to cancel at least 48 hours before the course, Saturday class = Let us know by Thursday. This results in you getting to keep your credit with us to reschedule for a later date the same season.
  2. Last minute notice – This can happen once and we apply the “no worries pass”  and the terms above apply.  For any future last minute notice you can ‘reactivate’ your class fee for a future class for 50% of the new class.  Instead of losing your fee completely, you just have to pay more to take the class.
  3. Replacement Clause – Find a suitable replacement for your spot and we can refund any fees, no questions asked.
  4. No Shows Forfeit all fees paid.

For Multi Day Trips, ACA Instructor/Rescue Courses

  1. Due to the planning involved for multi-day trips and instructor courses we ask for two weeks notice for cancellations which results in a credit for a future course.  Let us know one month in advance and you get a refund of all monies paid.
  2. Notice of within 2 weeks results in a credit for a future course by “reactivating” the credit for 50% of the event. Example: Cancel a couple of days before your ACA course and to take it in the future it would cost 50% more.
  3. Replacement Clause – Find a suitable replacement for your spot and we can refund any fees, no questions asked.
  4. No Shows Forfeit all fees paid.

The Weather and Other

  1. You will get wet kayaking. So rain and clouds at your home are not sufficient reasons to not show up to a class. Besides it could be sunny where the class is to be or TWC and Bob Ryan could be wrong. (Bob is the local weather man who is often wrong). So come to class.
  2. Thunder and lighting issues are called onsite. We make the call on the river or in the parking lot.  If we decide to cancel due to dangerous conditions, we are happy to reschedule your lesson or outing or if need be, provide a refund.  Safety first 🙂  Sometimes I know it will be unpleasant or bad out and will then try to call all registered guest in advance, but if we don’t call you, please show up as planned.
  3. High water can generally be predicted on the Potomac and can be dangerous to some paddlers and fun to others.  We can often adjust location of the class and still have a fun safe time.  We will make every effort to stay on top of monitoring water levels if they could impact your course.  If cancellations are required, we will reschedule and if need be, refund.
