Spring Training Evening Session

Many of us kayak year round. A lot of us kayak just in the warm. Some of us really like to get a jump on the season and take full advantage of Spring conditions.
Starting March 2nd you can join us for a workout each Saturday on the Potomac. It will range from long slogs up or down the river or both to skill building lessons on strokes and boat handling. We offer instruction at each of our sessions, not just a chance for you to chase an instructor and be left spinning on your own against the wind or pushing against a seemingly insurmountable eddy line with no support. We work as a group and give each of you a chance to gain improvement as you paddle. The program rewards consistency, so please just show up and put forth the effort and you will be rewarded with gains in skill and endurance. So if a small group of people working together to improve in the kayaking and not get lost in a ginormous horde appeals to you, give me a shout.
If you were paddling class 3ish last year then this program should suit you quite well. For those that are already paddling Class 4 we can probably get you some challenging things as well.
Saturday workouts will be from 10-at least 1pm sometimes a bit longer sometimes a bit shorter. Details on each river outing will be given during the weeknight training sessions or via email Friday afternoon. Saturdays in April we will load up and head out on day trips to various local rivers.
Wednesday and Thursday evening workouts are offered for you all to get more seat time and reinforce some good habits. 5ish pm is the start time for those until the time changes and we get more daylight.
You ought to have a dry suit or equivalent thermal layers. It would be grand if you had a longer kayak so you can push your boat handling and keep a fast pace and make some of the attainment moves.
